Poppy Cottage is a charming 200 year old dog friendly cottage set on the lower side of a mountain above Coniston, just a short walk from the village centre and the shores of Coniston Water. Tucked in its own garden with beautiful fell views, it offers peace, privacy and a warm, welcoming feel. Inside, exposed beams and an open plan living space create a comfortable atmosphere. With nearby walks, waterfalls and mountains, it’s an ideal base to explore the Lake District.

A striking wooden spiral staircase adds character and leads to one of the three inviting bedrooms.

The cottage sleeps up to 5 guests and offers three bedrooms, one with direct garden access via a charming stable door and another featuring a freestanding roll top bath. The spacious fully equipped kitchen is perfect for self catering holidays, whether you’re planning a cosy night in or entertaining family and friends.

Outside, the private garden with outdoor seating is a real highlight. Enjoy alfresco dining, evening drinks or simply take in the stunning scenery, including views towards the Old Man of Coniston and the surrounding fells.

Guests will have exclusive use of the entire cottage, along with the private garden area directly surrounding the property, perfect for relaxing and for dogs to enjoy safely.

Private entrance: The cottage is fully self-contained with its own entrance.
Self check-in: self check in is available from 4:00pm, allowing you to arrive at a time that suits you.
Parking: Free private parking for up to 3 cars is available in the private car park.

Please note that the cottage features uneven ground outside and a spiral staircase inside, which may make it unsuitable for guests with limited mobility.

Check-in is from 16:00 and Check-out is before 10:00.

Up to two well behaved dogs are welcome, however we kindly ask that they are kept off the beds and furnishings. Please also ensure that you clean up after your dogs if you allow them to foul outside the property. Please bring your own bedding and towels for your dogs.

The property is set up to allow remote access with easy self check-in meaning that no direct contact with anyone is needed.

IMPORTANT: On behalf of our host at Pass the Keys, we require guest verification facilitated by Truvi (Previously called Superhog). Upon confirming your booking, Truvi will contact the lead booker via a secure link, providing detailed instructions for the verification process.

The online verification requires a government-issued photo ID and a credit or debit card. During this process, you may choose between a refundable GBP 500 deposit (plus GBP 10 transaction fee currency equivalent) or purchase a non-refundable damage waiver of GBP 40 (currency equivalent) to cover potential damages during your stay.

Once the verification process is successfully completed, check-in information will be provided. If you opted in for a deposit, this will be refunded via credit/debit card after your stay, subject to an inspection of the property.
