About this listing

About this space
A perfect city-pad with parking – to explore the sights and sounds of the historical walled city of Canterbury!

The space
Come and stay at our well maintained and attractive first-floor apartment, just 0.5 miles from the City Centre.

Write your own Canterbury tale while you stay a short walk from Canterbury Cathedral, the medieval city walls and the buzz of the City Centre.

Once you’ve had your fun for the day you can relax knowing your peaceful home from home isn’t far away.

This spacious first floor apartment comes with one off-street allocated car parking space. It also features a fully equipped open plan kitchen/ lounge, one comfortable bedroom and a well maintained tiled bathroom.

The bedroom contains a double bed and the living area contains a comfortable single bed which can be used as a day bed during the day. With a pop out single bed on a frame on wheels underneath too!

The warm and welcoming open plan living area contains a comfortable sofa and dining table. The space is flooded with natural light throughout the day!

Other things to note
Please be aware that I use the flat myself twice a month when I come to Canterbury to visit my children, who are at boarding school in the town. I bought it during Covid times when it was very complicated for us to stay in hotels, and my children and I love having somewhere to stay within walking distance of the river and all the shops. The flat is available during the week and many weekends and holidays too – basically whenever we’re not there ourselves. For the moment there isn’t a TV in the flat as I like to make the most of every moment with my children to chat, cook or play games together, but if you wish to watch films then just bring your own laptop or iPad and connect to the WIFI.

Supermarkets
Local newsagent is just across the road, and there’s a great fish and chip shop almost next door! Aldi is just minutes away, Waitrose is less than a mile away around the ring road and Sainsbury’s just a little bit further.

Local Restaurants
Canterbury town centre is less than a 10 minute walk away via the Dane John Gardens, with all the usual high street shops, bars and restaurants.

Local Attractions
The Westgate Gardens are a lovely starting point for a walk along the Great Stour, stopping by the wonderful Toddler Cove playground if you have small children. Just go out of the flat, turn right, go left past Aldi along the ring road and there’s a path off to the left that joins the river. Walk into the town centre via the footbridge opposite Canterbury East train station, follow the steps down and stroll through the Dane John Gardens.

Trains
Canterbury East is less than a 5 minute walk away, and Canterbury West is a mile away.

Buses
Buses leave from Canterbury East to many local and coastal towns.

Key Selling Points
Spacious open plan lounge-dining area, beautiful double bedroom, and its own allocated parking space.

I liked: Location is perfect for a stay in Canterbury, parking is a huge bonus. The place had everything you would need for a few days stay, reasonably priced. I did not like: Very stressful 3rd party verification situation, so I didn’t get any check in information until well into my travel to the property, considering I booked through booking.com it was quite ridiculous. Especially in this day and age where data is so valuable and 3rd parties wanting so many details is an invasion of privacy. Property wise is could do with a deep clean which I appreciate it difficult with back to back guest’s. Summary: Great location, reasonably priced, decent facilities, perfect parking but terrible admin ... Read full reviewClose

I liked: Great location to explore Canterbury on foot and easy access to surrounding coastline or towns by car . Great to be able to park at property . Very clean and stocked up with all kitchen essentials, good communication from hosts. I did not like: No television and settee not the most comfortable but okay for short stay. Very noisy road outside sitting room/kitchen and no double glazing which might bother some people but much quieter in bedroom Summary: Great location in comfortable, secure, modern flat ... I liked: We liked the parking space around the corner. The water pressure of the shower was surprisingly good but the low quality shower head and the lack of an actual shower curtain (despite having a curtain rail above the shower) meant one couldn’t enjoy aforementioned water pressure. We liked the fact there was a working dishwasher; washing machine with drying function and fridge/freezer. The double bed in the bedroom was comfy (if too soft, for my liking), the duvet and the pillows were good quality and the open window towards the back allowed birdsong drifting in in the morning. The hair dryer provided in the flat was excellent and dried my hair way faster than my own (which I had brought). The fish&chips shop 2 doors down had excellent fish and calamari. I did not like: The listing stated “a coffee machine” as one of the available appliances but there was only a kettle, a microwave and a toaster. Due to that terrible omission, we got ourselves a little Tassimo machine to be able to have a decent cup of coffee in the morning. Upon our arrival, we noticed that 1 of the 2 bedside lamps was broken and equally that the light in the fridge didn’t work AND later, the integrated lamp above the stove also stopped working. We dutifully reported as much. The property management company said they would send out “associates“ the next morning to “review the issues” (for whom we waited bc apparently, we had the only available key to the property) but to our surprise, they proved unable to resolve either of these 3 faults. It would’ve been nice to see what’s in the fridge or on the stove cooking but… We also didn’t like the fact that there was no shower curtain. The fact we were provided with just ONE thin bathroom floor towel (not rug) to put on the floor paired with the lack of a shower curtain, everyone taking a shower inadvertently and unavoidably drenched the toilet, the sink and the bathroom floor with droplets of water. As a result, we had to use the provided towels to clean the entire bathroom surfaces twice a day. I also would’ve liked a rug in front of either side of the bed. Just to step on sth that isn’t icy cold floor first thing in the morning. The additional bed in the living room is flimsy and didn’t feel sturdy even due my very thin teenage daughter just to sit on. Others have commented similar before. That needs replacing. The kettle was/is in dire need of descaling and the toaster needed a deep clean too. So did some of the pots which had food remains left sticking at the bottom. We had to clean them all before using either. Summary: Pleasant enough for 3days. But better PropertyManagement would certainly improved the flat, thus our stay! ... Read full reviewClose
