About this listing
About this space
Friars Cottage is a cosy Victorian Cottage, tucked away in the heart of the historic and vibrant market town of Ludlow with its streets lined with historic timber-framed buildings and castle that dates back to 1085.
You are only a 5-minute walk from the town centre and its quaint back streets, independent shops, and an abundance of restaurants, bars, & cafes to suit all tastes and walks along river Teme.
Mortimer Forest is also on our doorstep, for those wanting to enjoy the outdoors.
The space
Friars Cottage, formally a Mews, is full of character. Access to the cottage is down a set of steps and you enter into the hallway, where there is a tray for muddy boots and into our cosy sitting room with Smart TV, which includes Netflix. The sitting room leads into a fully equipped kitchen/dining room. Off the kitchen is a utility with a downstairs toilet and drying room.
To the rear of the property is a private courtyard garden, which catches the sun, most of the day and is great to enjoy that early morning coffee or late afternoon glass of wine.
Our stairs are reasonably steep and narrow. Upstairs we have a large family bathroom with a bath over the shower.
Bedroom with double bed and storage space and a smaller bedroom to the rear of the property with a small 4ft double bed.
Guest access
The whole of the house and patio area is for guests to enjoy.
Other things to note
Our house does not have parking and is only pedestrian access from Old Street and Friars Garden. For unloading only, you can park on the wide pavement on Old St near the entrance. The long-term Smithfield car park is located on Lower Galdeford just a very short walk away, by the Police station, where you can park for £2.40 per day or £10 for the week. Download the MIpermit APP. We are also just 10 minutes from Ludlow train station if you prefer to travel by train!
Please be aware our stairs are reasonably steep and narrow and the second bedroom bed is a small 4ft double..

Paul Warman 21/07/2025I liked: It is very close the the town centre and was clean I did not like: We stayed two nights. No parking and the information when booking is MISLEADING. Parking (if you can) on the street is limited to two hours. It’s tired, the cleaners did a good job but it’s tired so they will be finding it hard work. Not very well equipped and there is no welcome pack. It does say basic provisions but I do not see tea and coffee and sugar as basic provisions without milk, no wine and no juice or even a biscuit. We have holiday let’s which are also self catering, regardless of the length of stay we always ensure travellers have proper provision when they arrive. Gas safe is out of date. Outside chairs were small could only think they were child’s? Summary: Basic and tired ... Read full reviewClose

michaela lindsay 21/06/2025I liked: Closeness to centre of town I did not like: Had great difficulty finding it, sent message to 24 hr number and didn’t get a reply until the next day, made booking ‘with parking’, photo showed parking on the street, the parking was actually only available for 2hours or at night, also deceptive in that the cottage was down a walking lane Summary: Pleasant once we found it, a lot of time wasted looking for 1/ the cottage and 2/looking for a car park ... Tim Palmer 15/11/2024House was very well located and presented. The facilities were excellent with everything someone could ever need. comfortable beds and enough space for 4 people.. Paying superhog and handing over my identity details to a random company. Will read details much more carefully and not book if i have to pay an indemnity or at least factor it in. ... Karyn Bright 06/06/2024Great location but no dedicated parking and additional cost for security. Location is great for exploring the town. There is an outside courtyard which was lovely for eating as, otherwise, the space is quite tight and dark. The check in process was shocking with a convoluted ID verification process that we have never had to do in other Booking.com properties. There was an additional charge for “admin” of a security deposit and the online process didn’t work so we couldn’t get access instructions. All super stressful for a small property that is really quite basic. Advertised as having dedicated parking but the instructions simply showed a picture of the street nearby - and it was always full! ... Read full reviewClose
