About this listing

Bursting with character and impressively unique. My one bedroom apartment is located in City Bar Walls, a short walk from the center of York and the famous and colorful ‘Bishy’ Road.

The interior is a mixture of original abstract artwork and collated vintage finds. I hope you will be impressed by the stunning high ceilings, original wooden beams and beautiful bay window. Choose my flat to be the perfect base for a couple’s retreat or friends looking to meet up and enjoy the city in style

My unique home is located on the ground floor of an old renovated building.

The entrance area doubles as an office and cloakroom. This room has access to a separate kitchen with refrigerator/freezer, compact dishwasher, stove and oven. Walk straight into the beautiful open plan living area.

The spacious living dining area includes a large table and chairs, use of Apple TV, HomePods and a plush sofa. Enjoy breakfast at home by the bay windows which bring in heaps of natural light. The flooring has recently been refurbished and the carpet has been replaced by beautiful wood flooring.

Stairs lead you to the bedroom and bathroom which are on the mezzanine level. Here you will find a king size bed, double wardrobe and chest of drawers for storage. The bathroom, also on the mezzanine leads off from the bedroom. Retaining the original wooden beams, styled in cool greys, it was newly installed with a large luxurious walk in shower, toilet and basin (no bath).

Local Attractions

Our home is perfectly located to explore the best of York! Here are the top 5 attractions just a short distance away:

Clifford’s Tower (about 15 minutes on foot): A historic Norman tower with sweeping views of York’s skyline, perfect for history buffs and photographers.

York Chocolate Story (about 18 minutes on foot): A sweet spot for chocolate lovers, where you can explore the history of York’s famous chocolate-making tradition and even try your hand at making your own chocolates.

York Minster (about 20 minutes on foot): A magnificent Gothic cathedral renowned for its stunning architecture, intricate stained glass, and rich history.

The Shambles (about 20 minutes on foot): A picturesque and narrow medieval street filled with independent shops, cafes, and eateries, often compared to Diagon Alley from Harry Potter.

The Jorvik Viking Centre (about 20 minutes on foot): An immersive experience showcasing York’s Viking past, featuring interactive exhibits and historical reconstructions.

These popular attractions are all easily accessible from the property, offering a great mix of history, culture, and fun.

There will be some complimentary tea/coffee waiting for you which I am sure will be useful for those arriving after a long journey!

Fresh white bedding and towels are provided (hand towel and bath towel per person), as well as miniature travel sized bottles of shampoo, shower gel and soap.

Managed by a professional co-host, this property is professionally cleaned and the linen/ towels are removed from the property after each stay and replaced with freshly laundered supplies. The property is set up to offer remote access with easy self check in and we also offer 24/7 guest support should you need any assistance during your stay

Guests have access to the entire flat.

There is a small patio outside of the bay windows which is there for decorative purposes. This is not for guest access, which I hope you can respect whilst staying in my flat.

I live in this flat yet often work away, which is why I am sharing my space. There will be some non-perishable items in the fridge and there are some alcoholic beverages out for my own consumption. If you would like to enjoy these too, I simply ask that you replace or provide a contribution. These items are left by myself in a trust capacity.

I have recently installed a log burner and kindly request that this is not used during your stay for fire safety precautions. (The heating has also been recently updated inside the flat!)

PARKING
Due to the cebtral location of my property, there is no parking. I recommend using Nunnery Lane car park for 24/7 parking at the most cost efficient rates. This is just a 5 minute walk from the property.

CHECK IN / CHECK OUT
Check-in time is after 4pm and check-out time is before 10am. A £30 charge will be requested if guests check themselves in early without permission or if guests do not check out on time as this will cause disruption to my cleaner’s schedule.
Please note that you will be charged £100 for lost keys, so please be careful with them.

WASHING MACHINE: Unfortunately, the washing machine inside the flat no longer works. However, there are washing machines and dryers located located in the ground floor laundry room which guests can use. To reach the laundry room, firstly head to the ground floor communal entrance. Go through the doors to the right of the stairs and turn right down the hallway to the outdoor seating area where the bin store is located. The laundry room is located here. You will require £1.00 coins to operate both the washer and the dryer. We provide a laundry capsule also to help guests get started with their stay. Alternatively, there is a clothes drying line within the living/dining area.

LUGGAGE STORAGE
Need somewhere to store your luggage before check-in or after check-out? Get 10% off luggage storage with Stasher using code PASSKEYSYORK10 — just enter the code at checkout.

WASHING MACHINE
Unfortunately, my property can no longer offer a washing machine. We apologise for any inconvenience.

INCLUDED IN THE STAY: For each stay we provide a bath towel and hand towel for each guest, a bath mat and a tea towel. We also provide a welcome pack to get guests starting including tea, coffee, milk, biscuits and sugar. A dishwasher tablet, sponge scourer, J-cloth, bin bags and toiletries including soap and body wash.

My property management team will be available 24/7 via email, or phone to provide any assistance my guests may need.

I liked: Lovely, spacious, clean and cosy home away from home. Walking distance everywhere. Very peaceful area. Comfortable beds. My kid loved the gymnastic rings. I was happy to be surrounded by books. I did not like: There was a hassle with the keys at the beginning. A bit clearer instructions and photos of the key box would be great. It is not your brightest moment after a long and tiresome travelling. Google maps also guides you to the inner court but the common door is by the street. Summary: Cosy home away from home ... Read full reviewClose

I liked: Location. I did not like: Expensive for what it was. Pass the Keys managing it means you automatically add on £40 or a £500 retainer. This may work for a long term let but not for a short break, where the deposit costs more than the trip! Crazy! If you drive, parking is another cost. Furthermore, this really is someone’s home with personal items everywhere, which whilst homely for some - is quite creepy and uncomfortable for others including ourselves as we felt we were invading someone’s personal space. Due to the hot weather, the flat hadn’t been aired when we walked in and smelt of garlic. The house plants were all dead. Summary: Great location, quirky property. ... Read full reviewClose
