About this space
Take a break and unwind at this peaceful ….. Richards Castle is on the border of Shropshire and Herefordshire, close enough to the market town of Ludlow to enjoy the lively community feel, busy markets, events and festivals that are held throughout the year. But set surrounded by the beautiful countryside of south Shropshire and the Welsh Marches. It is an excellent base for walking, cycling, as well as exploring the rest of Shropshire. Or just sitting, relaxing, taking in the stunning views
The space
Downstairs you come into the cottage via the open plan conservatory/kitchen. This is a great space to sit, relax and take in the views. Through to the lounge for the colder months, we have a log burner, which you are welcome to use.
The bathroom is downstairs with a shower over the bath.
Upstairs there are two small double bedrooms.
There is an enclosed garden to enjoy in the warmer months.
From the property, there are many walks including the Shropshire Way and cycle routes to enjoy. We are also within easy reach of National Trust Parks including Croft Castle and Parkland and Berrington Hall.
Other things to note
The house is small but is set in such a peaceful, beautiful location.
We do accept well-behaved dogs downstairs for £20 each.

John Wells 15/05/2024Really enjoyed our short stay. Thank you.. Convenient site. Lovely view, especially from upstairs. Quiet location. Nice conservatory.. Nothing really. An upstairs loo would make it perfect but I realise it would be almost impossible to do. Challenging in the middle of the night for older guests. ... Read full reviewClose

Anne Nicholson 23/04/2024Secluded location, part of a small terrace of properties. Lovely garden but sadly weather not up to sitting outside. Kitchen very well stocked- we went to Ludlow Market and cooked fresh food each night. Lovely and clean.. **BEWARE PASS THE KEYS DEPOSIT POLICY ** Absolutely shocking- They wanted a £500 deposit against damages, but the details of this were kept carefully hidden until it was too late. We complained loudly about this and got it waived. Booking.com- you can do better than support this absolute scam- shame on you. I will be reading the small print very carefully- that's if there is a next time- very put off from using you again. Key lock safe didn't work when we arrived but was sorted fairly quickly. Only other consideration is that the bedrooms are upstairs and the loo is downstairs- might be a problem for older people or those with mobility issues. ... Read full reviewClose

Phil Jones 05/12/2023Pleasant cottage in a rural location and just a 10 min drive from Ludlow. Great Wood burner and well equipped kitchen.. Bathroom cold tap not working properly causing water hammer. Also no functioning hot water tap in bathroom sink. Parking at the rear of the property was tricky due to the wet and muddy conditions. Could do with gravelling. Note that there is no longer a pub in the village! ... Read full reviewClose

Wendi Hart 05/12/2023Great little cottage. Short drive from ludlow, quiet, Felt clean, log burner was lovely, it was nice to sit in conservatory and have breakfast with the doors open and our dog was able to wander around the secure garden, loved the historic old church up the road. Bathroom tap needs looking at as it swivels when you turn it. 3 seats in lounge and upright chair, so not as cosy for 4 people, a microwave would have been nice , but I suppose that's why the price was competitive. ...
