Malinda Quartel Coupe 22/11/2025I liked: Beautiful cottage in the quiet part of the Lakes District. Gorgeous views direct out the front door. The heating works very quickly to warm up the space, and the woodstove a wonderful addition to create cozy nights in the darker months. The bedroom upstairs is a great size, and once you overcome the trepidation of the steps, navigating to the bathroom in the middle of the night is no problem! 🤪 The second bedroom was handy for us to keep our bags and suitcases. Across the road there is a beautiful little church that I think is converted into a house, but is lit up beautifully at night. And the starry skies are amazing, as there is no light pollution around. There is a great circular route for walking your dog going behind the house and up into the meadows, ending back on main road by Red Lion pub. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! I did not like: Nothing really. It is unfortunate there are no views from the windows onto the beautiful fields and meadows, but the greenery from the courtyard garden is what you look out onto, so its not all bad! 🤣 The cottage dates back to centuries ago, so the steps are a bit higgledy piggeldy, but that certainly adds to the charm! Summary: Beautiful cottage ... Read full reviewClose

claire hartley 02/10/2025I liked: The cottage is beautifully cosy with all the amenities you need, including a lovely cottage garden. It is stunning! The hosts were the kindest and most accommodating people I've met. My partner and I had a few car troubles and they graciously helped us to remedy the challenges that presented us. We are so very grateful. We were met with cake (it was delicious - home made!), wine, flowers and logs for the log burner. Such a lovely welcoming. Great location that's quiet but close enough to a range of villages/towns, lakes and fantastic walks from the doorstep. We recommend it highly! I did not like: I honestly cannot say there wasn't anything we didn't like. Summary: What a stunning cottage! ... Read full reviewClose

Leanne Tweddle 30/09/2025I liked: Beautiful cottage, very clean and obviously recently renovated. Cute little enclosed garden and all equipment you could possibly need provided. I did not like: The location is very remote, there's nothing within walking distance. The timed heating was also a bit of an issue with a child who wakes early - the cottage was freezing in the mornings. Very steep staircase also a bit of an issue we didn't think about when booking - very tricky to negotiate with smaller children. The stairs are open to the living room and made from hard slate and then open slatted wood to the very top floor - we had to watch our 3 year old like a hawk. The cottage is also advertised as dog friendly but then dogs are not allowed upstairs... Again, tricky to achieve with an open staircase. Summary: Lovely cottage, but a few things to be mindful of if travelling with small children or dogs ... Read full reviewClose
