Property Highlights:

Bedrooms: The Wagtails features four spacious bedrooms. Three of which are double beds and the fourth is a king size bed. Kitchen: The kitchen has everything you need for a short or long term stay at The Wagtails.

**We do have the property next door also that can accommodate a further 6 guests. If you would like to book both properties out for an event, holiday, celebration etc, then please do get in touch!**

If you love walking and nature, you’re looking at the right place!

Here is a snapshot of what there is around us.

Wallasea Island RSPB – Nature Reserve

There’s plenty to explore on the more than 740 hectares of the reserve and there are six walking trails, with two shelters so that you can sit back and relax while you watch the river. Wallasea Island sits within a Special Protection Area which covers the Crouch and Roach estuaries, which are home to various waders and wildfowl, like Dark-bellied Brent Geese.

Bird Watching:
Wallasea Island is a paradise for birdwatchers. You can spot a variety of species, including avocets, lapwings, curlews, marsh harriers, and short-eared owls. The island is especially popular during migration seasons when numerous wading birds and waterfowl pass through.

Coastal Walks

Walking Trails:
The coastal walks around Wallasea Island provide stunning views of the Essex coastline, estuaries, and the island’s unique wetland habitats. The trails are generally easy to moderate, suitable for walkers of all levels. We will provide some guidance on walks for different abilities.
You can expect expansive views of mudflats, saltmarshes, and the open sea.

Wallasea Island – Seal Watching

The waters around Wallasea Island are home to a population of seals. Seal watching tours are available, offering a chance to see these marine mammals in their natural habitat.

Canewdon – Church

St. Nicholas Church:
The village of Canewdon is famous for its historic St. Nicholas Church, which dates back to the 14th century. The church is perched on a hill, offering stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
The church is steeped in local folklore and is associated with tales of witchcraft and ghostly apparitions.

Stambridge – Fishing Lake

Fishing Lake:
Stambridge offers a peaceful fishing lake, ideal for anglers looking to enjoy a relaxing day by the water. The lake is stocked with various species, including carp, tench, and bream, providing opportunities for both novice and experienced anglers.

Rochford – Reservoir Fishing

Rochford Reservoir:
Rochford Reservoir is a popular spot for fishing where you can expect to catch species such as carp, roach, and perch. The reservoir is managed to ensure a sustainable and enjoyable fishing experience.

Battlesbridge – Antiques Centre

Battlesbridge is renowned for its large antiques centre, housed in charming old buildings along the river. The centre features a wide range of antiques and collectibles, including furniture, ceramics, and vintage items. A great day out for antique enthusiasts!
