About this listing
A stylish London stay in a Victorian conservation area, with arched sash windows, dark wood floors, and leafy garden views. This two-bedroom flat blends 1840s charm with modern comfort, just moments from Regent’s Canal, Upper Street, and Angel station.
With a velvet sofa, bright kitchen, and access to a shared garden, it’s a calm retreat in the heart of Islington — ideal for weekends, longer stays, or simply living like a local.
Part of a Victorian house dating back to the 1840s, the flat carries almost two centuries of history in its walls. Once a grand family home, now thoughtfully divided into four residences, ours is the only flat with its own private entrance and direct access to the garden. Step inside and you’ll find the space has been newly renovated — bright, comfortable, and practical, while keeping the character of its original design.
The living area is open and elegant, with herringbone wood floors, bold artwork, and a deep green velvet sofa that practically insists you slow down. The glass dining table often catches soft light from the oversized mirror, turning even a casual meal into something quietly beautiful.
The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking, with marble counters, brass details, and a farmhouse sink beneath an arched window that frames the trees outside. Whether you’re making coffee in the morning or unwinding with wine in the evening, it’s a corner of the home that feels especially grounding.
Each of the two bedrooms has its own character: one looks onto the leafy communal garden, calm and serene, while the other is cosy and book-lined, with shelves that give it the feel of a personal library. Both are restful, designed to be proper places of retreat.
Right outside the flat, we’ve set up a small table and chairs for you to enjoy coffee in the morning sun or a glass of wine in the evening. It’s rare to have such greenery in Zone 1, and it makes this part of Islington feel like a little village within the city.
To help you settle in, I leave a welcome pack with tea, coffee, and essentials. You may hear the occasional hum of the city beyond the walls — that’s part of being so central — but inside, the flat feels calm and self-contained.
And when you do step outside, Islington unfolds around you. Regent’s Canal is just a few steps away for morning jogs or evening strolls, and Upper Street hums with cafés, wine bars, and independent shops. Camden Passage is brimming with antiques and curiosities, while Exmouth Market and Shoreditch are close enough to wander on foot.
It’s a neighbourhood full of energy and charm, yet somehow the flat itself remains a peaceful retreat — a balance that makes it easy to love.
You have access to the entire property with no disruptions. Should a maintenance query occur, you will be asked permission first before we access the property to carry out a repair.
THE PRACTICAL BITS (WE PROMISE TO KEEP IT BRIEF!)
Check-in & Check-out:
Check-in is from 3pm and check-out is by 11am. If you’d like to request a different time, let us know in advance — we’ll always try to accommodate when possible, but it’s subject to availability and may incur an additional fee.
Please be mindful of our cleaning team’s schedule. For unauthorised late check-outs or early arrivals, a £20 charge per half hour will apply.
Keys:
You’ll receive check-out instructions the day before departure, including how to return the keys to the key safe. Following this step is essential — if not done correctly, it can delay access for our cleaners and affect the rest of their day. A £50 fee applies for incorrect key return.
Lost keys requiring a lock replacement will be charged at £100. Lockouts that require a call-out will incur a £50 fee.
Parking:
There is no private parking with the property, but you’ll find easy alternatives nearby:
RingGo – pay-as-you-go on-street parking
Parkopedia & Just Park – local residents offer spaces at competitive rates
Please note: ZipCar bookings do not include parking, so separate arrangements must be made.
Family Facilities:
A travel cot is available for hire at £40, which covers drop-off and collection. Please bring your own cot bedding. If you also require a high chair, both items can be provided for a total of £45. We do require a 24-hour notice for this request.
Smoking:
Smoking is strictly prohibited. A £200 fine applies if smoking is detected inside the property.
Extra Guests & Noise:
Only registered guests are permitted in the property unless agreed in advance. As the home is in a residential building, no parties or loud music are allowed. Breaches of these rules will result in a £250 fine.
Lost Property:
Please take care when packing up. Lost items are handled by a third-party courier service who charge a minimum of £25 per item, plus shipping costs.
